Certified Copies

To request copies of business records on file with the Vermont Office of the Secretary of State, please follow the steps below and then submit the form provided.

Please Note:

  • Documents issued (e.g. certificates) by the Office of the Secretary of State are not available for copies. Only documents filed with the Office of the Secretary of State (e.g. articles, applications, statements, registrations, etc.), with a few exceptions, are available for copies. Please see Fees & Filings for a complete list of filings.
  • Please do not submit a document request if you simply would like to verify the latest officers, directors, address, or other basic information about your business. This can and should be done using our Online Business Search.
  • To prevent possible delays, please verify your business name and business ID using our Online Business Search before submitting our request.

Request a Business Record

Please select one of the following options:

Certificates of Good Standing or Status

Certified Copies

Apostilled or Authenticated Copies (for foreign use)

Plain Copies (Uncertified) - NO FEE

Certified Copies:

For certified copies, please login to our Online Business Service Center to submit your request:

a.  If you have an existing account:

1. Enter your User ID and Password.

2. Select Login.

3. Follow the on-screen prompts from there.

b. If you do NOT have an existing account, or you cannot access your account using the "Forgot User ID" and/or "Forgot Password" links:

1. Follow the on-screen prompts to create a user account.

2. Once logged in: Select Certified Copy Requests under VT SEC OF STATE ONLINE SERVICES from the Main Menu on the left side of your screen.

3. Follow the on-screen prompts from there.
