- Vermont State Prison: Records include indexes, registers, and description books of individuals sent to the State Prison at Windsor between 1809 and 1975.
- Vermont State Hospital: Admission and discharge registers document patients at the hospital from 1891 to 1969.
- Brandon Training School: Records include indexes and admission books for residents of the school from 1915 to 1994.
- Vermont Industrial School and Weeks School: Registers and histories document children committed to the school between 1867 and 1979.
Researchers should note that most information related to individuals committed to state institutions is exempt from public inspection under several state statutes. Researchers are encouraged to contact the Reference Services staff for more details about what information may or may not be open to the public.
