The Vermont State Archives holds two significant series of military records that document the service of Vermonters from the Revolutionary War to World War II. Finding aids for those series can be found online:
- Records of the Adjutant and Inspector General includes records related to Vermont units from the Revolutionary War through the early twentieth century.
- Military Records Collection identifies resources found across the State Archives that relate to the state’s military.
In addition, rosters of Vermonters who fought in every major conflict from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War are also available in our Reference Room. Published rosters for the War of 1812 have been digitized and are available online.
Researchers should note that the State Archives does not hold service records for individuals after 1919. Information on individuals who served in the United States military is available from the National Archives.
