Montpelier The League of Women Voters of Central Vermont will be registering voters at Montpelier's Independence Day celebration on July 3. In making the announcement, League Chapter President Nancy Lynch said, “In this historic Presidential election year, The League of Women Voters of Central Vermont is committed to increasing civic participation through voter registration, and providing information about key issues.  Our Independence Day activities are just the beginning of our work this election season.  We invite folks to stop by our booth on the State House lawn to register to vote, to ask questions, and to show their support of their local league.”

The League is nonpartisan, and neither supports nor opposes political parties or candidates.   Founded in 1920 by members of the suffragist movement, it is an organization whose mission is to encourage the active participation of citizens in government, through education and advocacy.
