The contest winners and their classes will be
Secretary Markowitz’s guest on a tour of the Vermont Statehouse and
Vermont Historical Society Museum. After the students are treated to a
rare viewing of the Vermont Constitution at the Secretary of State’s
office, winners will be presented with an award along with a $100
savings bond.
"We were pleased with the response we
received to this program," said Brian Vachon, Chair of Kids Voting
Vermont. "It was very difficult to select winners from the many fine
essays and creative posters we received," stated Secretary Markowitz.
"This program is a great way to get younger students thinking about
their state and its history, while encouraging older students to examine
the nature of self governance and its importance in a free society,"
said Markowitz.
The winning posters and essays may be viewed
on the Secretary of State’s Kids Page website,
