Jessica Porter is appointed Director of the Office of Professional Regulation

Secretary of State Deborah L. Markowitz has named Jessica Porter the Director of the Office of Professional Regulation (OPR). OPR is responsible for licensure, certification, registration and disciplinary matters for 40 occupations & professions.

Ms. Porter, of South Burlington, Vermont, has previously served the State of Vermont as Disciplinary Counsel to the Supreme Court, overseeing the professional regulation of Vermont’s Attorneys. Prior to that time, Ms. Porter served as General Counsel to Vermont’s Department of Development and Mental Health Services and as Assistant Attorney General.

Ms. Porter graduated from Rutgers University School of Law in 1984, after practicing as a public health nurse in Seattle Washington. She received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington in 1979.

Ms. Porter replaces Tom Lehner who retired from state service to serve as General Counsel to the Vermont Dairy Compact.
