Vermont Public Service Awards to be held in Grand Isle County
Vermont Secretary of State Deborah Markowitz will honor local officials of Grand Isle County at the Vermont Public Service Awards on Wednesday, October 20, 1999. The ceremony will honor over 30 local officials who have served their communities for twenty or more years. Friends, family and other local officials are expected to attend. The ceremony will begin with presentations by members of the Grand Isle Girl Scouts. The keynote speech by Secretary Markowitz will follow the opening presentations. The ceremony will take place at the North Hero Town Hall in North Hero at 7:00 PM. The event is open to the public. For further information, please call 1-800-439-8683.

Vermont Public Service Awards to be held in Franklin County

Vermont Secretary of State Deborah Markowitz will honor local officials of Franklin County at the Vermont Public Service Awards on Wednesday, October 27, 1999. The ceremony will honor over 80 local officials who have served their communities for twenty or more years. Over one hundred people including honorees, friends, family and other local officials are expected to attend. The ceremony will begin with presentations by members of the St. Albans Boy Scouts and the VT-781 Airforce Junior ROTC. Keynote speeches by Secretary Markowitz and Senator John Finn will follow the opening presentations. The ceremony will take place at the Bellows Free Academy Auditorium in St. Albans at 7:00 PM. 1999 Guide to Vermont’s Campaign Finance Law

Secretary of State Deborah Markowitz announces the publication of the 1999 Guide to Vermont’s Campaign Finance Law. This publication is designed to help those running for elected office comply with the provisions of the revised campaign finance law. Although some potential candidates may fear that they will unknowingly fail to comply with campaign finance provisions, this straight forward guide will assist all in understanding the requirements of the law. The 1999 guide includes explanations and examples of how to apply the contributions and spending limits. It also provides directions and dates for filing campaign finance reports. The guide includes answers to frequently asked questions about campaign finance. A calendar for primary and general elections has also been integrated in this 1999 guide to be used for easy reference by candidates.
