Wednesday, February 10

In towns using the Australian ballot system of voting, the ballots for local officers and local questions shall be prepared by the town clerk (not later than 20 days before the election).  17 V.S.A. & 2141.

Attention Notaries Public !!

It's time to renew your notary commission!  The current commission expires 2/10/99!  If you have not already done so, please   contact the county clerk in the county in which you reside and renew today!

Monday, February 22

During the eight days immediately          preceding election day and on election day, the clerk shall deliver to each pair of       justices one part of the list, together with absent voter ballots and envelopes for each applicant.  When justices receive  ballots and envelopes prior to election day, they shall receive only the ballots and envelopes they are assigned to deliver on that day.     17 V.S.A. § 2538 (a) and (b).

A local candidate who has made               expenditures or accepted contributions of $500.00 or more shall file with the officer with whom his nomination papers are filed campaign finance reports. 17V.S.A. §§ 2822, 2103 (13).

A political committee or political party which has accepted contributions or made expenditures of $500 or more for the       purposes of influencing a local election or supporting or opposing one or more local candidates must file a campaign finance  report with the clerk of the municipality.  17 V.S.A. §§ 2831 (b), 2103 (13).

Saturday, February 20

Last day to apply for addition to the     checklist.  Town Clerk's Office must be open from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  17 V.S.A. § 2144 (a) and (b).  Applications for addition to checklist must be postmarked on this day.  Applications received by DMV or voter registration agency on or before this      deadline shall be deemed timely even if    received after the deadline.

Sample ballots must be posted by town clerks in the same places previously posted copies of the warning, notice and checklist.  17 V.S.A. § 2522 (a).

The board of civil authority must meet     between this day and the day of the election for the purpose of revising the checklist.

At least 10 days before Town Meeting,      Selectboard must mail or otherwise         distribute Town Meeting warning in annual town report by this date to avoid publishing warning in newspaper.  17 V.S.A. § 2641 (b).

At least 10 days before Annual Meeting, Auditor's Report must be distributed.        21 V.S. A. § 1682.
